The End of Our Maturity

The day you read this is the day you’ll suffer from a lack of common sense in critical places. But you will wake up. You will have an epiphany. You will realize things that you had no idea ever existed.

And you will learn.

That your life has turned into a compendium of unimportant matters. That you are more than the sum total of all the people who hated you since preschool. That the things that bothered you are the same things that kept you interested. That the people you refuse to understand are the same people who taught you understanding. That you are capable of feeling.

That people can take the truth from you and bend it in so many ways. That thought is a form of action and not acting on an impure thought does not make you a nice person. You shouldn’t have put off that thing you love doing for the longest time and now it is just too late. That being alone is not as bad as it seems. That there are people who want you but can never have you and the one you ended up with is the right person for you.

That you are the master of your own destiny and that you can do anything you put your mind to. You have been worried and stressed for too long and now it all seems useless. That the emotional baggage you have carried all these years bears no sense. That some people were born shallow and can never be as complicated as you. That a problem that can’t be solved is not a problem. Acceptance is key.

The day you read this is the day you’ll turn into a black-haired, brown-skinned social outcast with a newfound sense of enlightenment. It’s not that lonely at the top. There are people there just like you. You just need to find them. The air up there is cleaner, lighter, and more breathable…

Congratulations.

You just reached the end of your maturity.
